Directions to Siglufjörður and Hólar

Siglufjörður
48 km farther north lies the picturesque village of Siglufjörður. Along the way, you will drive through dark, one-way tunnels on Route 76. (Photo by: Bri)
Siglufjörður is the northernmost town in Iceland. It is less than 40 km away from the Arctic Circle. You can visit the herring museum in the red building near the wharf.
Hólar
Hólar is a small village with the oldest stone church in Iceland, which is also a cathedral. It is 27 km from Hofsós. First drive farther south via Route 76, then turn left (Route 767) towards Hólar.
Hólar has historically been of great importance. Here, the first Icelandic Bibles (250 of them) were printed (1530). You can see one of the original copies.
